Snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver

Prepare for another blast of winter weather, as Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the following areas:

  • Metro Vancouver – northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
  • North Shore – including West Vancouver and North Vancouver

An approaching Pacific frontal system is expected to bring up to 5 cm of snow over the next 24 hours.

Parts of the North Shore, northeast sections of Metro Vancouver, and the Fraser Valley can expect today’s rainfall to transition into wet snow and flurries once temperatures drop.

Showers are expected to return into the forecast by Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada is also calling for a “significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas,” so be sure to give extra time going to and from your destination.

Total amounts of 10 to 15 cm are now expected across Metro Vancouver, especially over higher terrain.
