Il Centro, Italian Cultural Centre, is pleased to announce the 2017 Italian Film Festival (IFF) which will take place at the Vancity Cinema in downtown Vancouver from January 6th to January 12th. This year’s festival features a blend of classic Italian cinema combined with several newer films to create a unique Italian cinematic event. The Italian Film Festival, entering its fourth year of operations, is a collaborative partnership with the Vancouver International Film Festival and is dedicated to raise awareness and promote all aspects of Italian cinema.
The festival will launch with a screening of Federico Fellini’s masterpiece “Roma.” An opening Gala reception will be held before the screening with food from il Centro, wine, and music by the Steve Kaldestad Trio.
The 2017 Italian Film Festival program includes: Fellini’s “Roma”, Gabriele Mainetti’s “They Call Me Jeeg”, Mario Monicelli’s classic “Viva Italia!”, Laura Morente’s new film “Assolo”, “Io e Lei” directed by Maria Sole Tognazzi, “L’amore Molesto” directed by Mario Martone, “Il Viaggio” by Adriano Valerio, “Theatre of Life” the documentary by Peter Svatek, “La messa è finita” by Nanni Moretti, “Le Mani sulla città” by Francesco Rosi, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s classical masterpiece “Accatone”, Claudio Cupellini’s “Alaska”, “Splendor” by Ettore Scola, and finally a film by Edoardo de Angelis entitled “Indivisible” to close the festival off.
